Published Poety

This poem was published my senior year of high school. I credit my english teacher with getting me into poetry and forcing me to expand my gift. Mrs. Diana Darling has been teaching for almost 40 years; 20 of those years were spent teaching Advanced Placement (for college credit) english classes. In all of those years she had yet to have a student become published. The delinquent from Knightstown who wasnt smart enough for AP classes, was her first. She surprised me on senior awards day with that announcement that I was to be published in an anthology of poems.

Love and Glory Past
You filed me heart with joy and gladness;
You replaced my endless sadness.
I gave love to you, and you to me.
You said together we would always be.
We sat and talked for hours and hours;
Our love was like a field of flowers.
We Met as friends; time gave us more.
We experienced what true love is for.
Now you're gone and I wonder why.
Upon doves wings, I wish I could fly.
You've destroyed my joy and gladness;
Now all I feel is despair and sadness.
We sat and talked for hour upon hour;
Now our love is just a wilted flour.
Our love will never again be true;
My memories of us are forever blue.

Good job, Dave. I especially like these lines:

"Our love will never again be true;
My memories of us are forever blue."
